Reaching New Heights & Depths

G’day everyone! Hey tit øll í Føroyum take fyri fyribøninir.

Heading into another amazing week on OTG!! The time is going so fast and we’re coming close to the end. We’ve once again been blessed with absolutely stunning weather that has followed us through our whole OTG experience. Praise God for His amazing provision and care for us!

This week we got to go on another amazing hike!! As a celebration of our last hike, we got to have a longer time together out in the Kahurangi National Park for a full four days. It was a bit sentimental for some of us knowing that this was going to be our last hike together on OTG.

This week we got a visit from Miles to join with us on the hike. We had so many great conversations, continuing to discover more about who God is and who He has made us to be. We looked deep inside of our lives and each other, and the ways that God has created us all individually and uniquely.

On our beautiful hike we got to experience three amazing summits. The first was Mount Peel on day one, with perfect clear skies and a stunning view of Lake Peel and the valleys, as well as the mountains that we were going to climb in the next days. On day two we made the big feat of climbing two summits, Gordon’s Pyramid and Mount Arthur. This was some of the most technical climbs that we’ve done, as we had to climb hand over feet on some rock faces. We continue to learn to rely on and encourage each other through the tough times, and are so glad to have a tight bond with each other that means we can push each other to success.

On one of the nights of our hiking trip, Miles shared his experience and a teaching about the reality that we experience of the presence of God. Spending our time in the mountains helps to make us even more aware of God’s universal presence in everything, His abiding presence of the Holy Spirit dwelling in our hearts, as well as His favourable presence of God shining His face towards us. God is everywhere and in everything and we are so blessed that He desires to be in a relationship with us.

Climbing Mount Arthur gave us an incredible new perspective of where we’ve been these past 5 weeks as we could spot some of the places that we’ve been so far. At the summit of Mount Arthur, we reached 1795m altitude. It was very special for us (especially Aussie Sam and Jógvan) because it’s higher than either of us have been before, and showed us all the sheer scale of our surroundings. It reminded us of how great our God is and how small we are in comparison, and how great His love is for us that he still desires to have a relationship and be present with us.

Throughout the week we got to dig deeper into ourselves and into God’s word. In our bible study this week we focused on how the good news of the gospel is for all peoples and nations and that even those who seem unreachable can be reached by our mighty God. He saved us so that we can live as a body of Christ together. This impacts how we live in community with each other - especially in the connection and support that we have together as a team.

Now that we’re approaching the end of our time here on OTG, it’s really starting to set in and we’re having to think about how we’re going to get back into our normal life after having this incredibly unique experience. We’re focusing on making the most of the time we have, to continue to know God’s presence, by the strength that He daily provides for us and for the calling that He has set us to. Also by taking in every moment that we have together as a team together.

Prayer Requests:

  1. To be able to make the most of the last week that we have together

  2. Assurance of God’s presence with us and in us, in everything that we do

  3. Guidance as we prepare ourselves to be equipped to go home

  4. Mental strength and capacity in our last week in whatever we face

Thank you for keeping up with us on our amazing adventure.
