The BEST Team Journal You Will Read This Week!
Hi everyone at home! We are having a great time on week one of Off The GRID!
This week we set off on our first tramping trip in the mountains near Nelson. Monday was spent checking gear and preparing our food for the three days we would be away. We set off first thing on Tuesday, and hiked up to Dun Saddle (which was already as high the highest mountains in the UK and Faroe Islands!). We spent the night in a hut, with a hiker from Canada who joined in with a lot of our conversations. In the hut we learned to cook on the camping stove, and did our Bible study together, looking at creation and learning some leadership skills. The walk back on Thursday was very flat so we were able to have a lot of good conversations, praying for each other and talking about our goals for the program.

On Wednesday, the weather was so bad that we ended up staying in the hut for the day. This turned out to be a great day for us to spend time in personal and group study, and to bond as a team - it was definitely the latest bedtime so far since no one could stop laughing! We shared our testimonies with each other, and talked deeply about what we are learning from the Bible and from the creation around us. We learned a lot about how creation points forward to the wider story of the Bible, and gained practical tools as to how we can better understand and lead both ourselves and others.
As well as enjoying the walks, tramps, and beautiful nature, we have loved getting to know each other better. Over the last couple of days, (as well as doing a lot of washing) we have had time to chat, play games, meet challenges and even worship together. We are blessed to have Adam to lead us in worship, and he even played one of his own songs for us! We have had a lot of fun learning each other’s languages, playing spoons, watching David learn to juggle, and Louisa teach Adam ballet!

Prayer Requests:
This week we have thought about how to make the most of our time on Off the GRID. Please pray that we are able to be disciplined in this.
Please pray for safety and health so that we can fully enjoy our tramping and kayaking trips over the next few weeks.
Pray for continued fellowship and joy in our relationships as a team.
